i believe that everyone needs to pour into the well-being of themselves. no one can physically go go go all day everyday and stay mentally healthy. you just can’t pour from an empty cup.
i think it’s important to remember that self-care doesn’t have to be hours long. sometimes a couple minutes is all we might need to feel refreshed.
self care might look different in varying seasons of life, but here are some ideas to get you started:
- extra skin care- take your makeup off early and take time to do a face mask or exfoliate. having your husband do it with you is fun too. 🙂
- car ride alone- especially if you live in the country, just taking some to drive at night with a good view could make a person feel good. or you could drive and get yourself a starbucks or a fun drink/dessert.
- date night with hubby- get a babysitter and take your husband out for some quality time together. or you could even wait until the kids are in bed and do a date at home like playing a game and cooking dinner together.
- good ice cream- sometimes a good dessert is all you need to put a smile on your face.
- take a bath- if you’re a bath person, take a book and some chill music and hang out in the tub for a while.
- get exercise- go the gym or even just a walk outside. working out is always a good way to refresh. and it’s great for your physical health too!
- journal- i’ve regularly journaled for probably over 10 years now, and i love it. i journal prayers, thoughts, feelings, important moments, day to day agenda, etc.
- have a slow morning- this could entail sleeping in, praying, journaling, making a good home cooked breakfast, etc.
- movie night- make some popcorn and snuggle up in a blanket to a feel good movie.
- treat yourself- go get your eyebrows done, manicure/pedicure, go to the hair salon, etc. do something that makes you feel beautiful.
schedule in some time for yourself this week. you won’t regret it.
