I love home decor, but it’s not always in the budget to buy everything you want for your home. But, I’ve found that making your home and environment more cozy, doesn’t have to always take spending money! Here are a few ways I try and make my home more cozy and inviting, especially this time of year.

Music

Trevor & I own a vinyl record player that triples as a radio and has bluetooth capabilities. So, whenever we have people over, we always have some music in the background. There’s something about having music on that just makes a house feel more homey & inviting. It can also break some awkward silence if needed haha.

Lighting

Our kitchen has dimming capabilities for the lighting & I love this! Once evening hits, I like to dim the lights to make it feel cozier. We also don’t have a main light in our living room, so the lamp in there automatically helps with this too. Alternate lighting always helps a space feel homier.

Candles

Lately, I have been obsessed with taper candles. A while ago, I found the cutest taper candle holders at Target and then Amazon has some good deals on candles. A candlelight dinner makes it look & feel super intentional and cozy.

Home Cooked Meal & Dessert

There’s just something about a home cooked meal or dessert. The smell, the thought, the taste. It’s just super special to sit around the table with your family and/or friends and eat a tasty home cooked meal and have a delicious dessert (lately, I’ve found the best healthy dessert recipes by the way). I realize more and more how much people eat out and have lost the art of making a home cooked meal, but there’s something so special about a meal at home.

Fresh Flowers

Especially in the summertime, I am obsessed with having a vase of fresh flowers on the kitchen table. Flowers can get expensive, but there are places that sell great flowers for a super good price! My all-time favorites are from Trader Joe’s.

Blankets

I always have a basket full of blankets available in our living room. Everything feels cozier when you have a blanket to snuggle up to with a hot beverage in hand.

Fireplace

We currently do not own a fireplace, but YouTube has a fireplace continuous clip that actually has fireplace sounds. Even though it doesn’t give off heat, the sound and look of the fireplace on your tv, legit still makes you feel warm & cozy.

Here are little things I do to make our house feel like a home & more cozy. It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money or be super over the top to be seen as intentional & thoughtful. What things do you do in your home to make it cozy & inviting?
