Now that we are in our fourth month of 2023 already (CRAZY!!), I thought I’d share just a couple of things I’ve done differently this year that are life-changing to me & I will continue.
The first one is doing photo albums. I used to print photos and put them in albums all the time. Once I got married and Covid happened, I kind of fell out of routine. And then one day, I realized that with having two kids, I want them to have physical copies of photos to look at from their childhood and how special that is for me to be able to do with the albums my parents have. Everyone has digital pictures these days, but there is something so special about hard copies of pictures you can touch & hold. So over the span of a few days, I went through all my pictures starting back at the beginning of 2021 when I was pregnant with my son and got everything from 2021 until recent printed and in albums. I’m so happy with this choice to start doing this again.
The next one I kind of started at the end of 2022, but that is I’ve been reading more. I’ve been prioritizing reading before bed almost every night. It’s a great way to wind down that isn’t staring at a screen. I’ve set a goal of reading 20 books this year and I’m almost halfway to that already! Reading really is fun if you’re reading stuff you enjoy.
The third one is caring more about my health. I’ve been pregnant for basically two years straight and now that I’m not, I have no excuse not to stay active and care more about what’s going into my body. No matter your age, season of life, or body type, this is important. We just got gym memberships again, and I love it!
The fourth thing I’m working at is having better perspective. For example, if my daughter is having a super fussy day, I’m trying not to let that completely ruin and negatively affect my day. I’m trying to stay positive and remind myself that this season won’t last forever. To take time to just snuggle her instead of get myself all worked up and upset over what I’m not getting done due to her needing to be held. This shift is game changing.
Those are four things I’ve begun doing this year that I won’t stop doing. What new habits are your forming?
