Yay!! You’re pregnant. Or maybe a close friend or family member is.
Well, it’s so exciting to be in a season of making a baby registry, but some people find it overwhelming because the baby industry is so large and everything is marketed to be “necessary” and “the best.”
From experience, and trying to be cost effective, here are the top 25 things you’ll actually get a lot of use out of and be thankful to have for your little one…
Transforming Crib
Register for a crib that turns into a toddler bed as your baby grows up. Instead of buying a mini crib, then a regular crib, then a toddler bed, etc., just buy one! There are a lot of options out there!

Car Seat
There are so many car seats out there!! And some of them cost more than a used car- it’s crazy! Obviously, you want your baby safe, but car seats have to go through so much testing to make sure they’re safe, so don’t worry about cheaper ones not being as safe for your baby. Choose one that’s within your price range and don’t feel badly for choosing one that is less expensive. They all get the job done!

Single to Double Stroller
No matter how close together you want your babies, get a stroller that can transform into a double stroller so when the time comes, you have the option! We love the Mockingbird stroller!

Snuggle Me
I love the Snuggle Me! It is the perfect lounger for your baby. You can place it basically anywhere for your baby- couch, table, bed, etc. I haven’t tried other lounger brands, but I personally love this one!

White Onesies
Your baby will not be in newborn sizes for very long and those clothes they’re in as an itty bitty baby are more about comfort and simplicity than “cute.” They’ll get covered in spit up, poop, and milk. White is easy for either gender and makes things simple!
Baby Swing
We originally did not register for a baby swing, but we realized it could be useful to have another place for baby to sit in that’s more upright and can help rock them/entertain them, so we ended up buying one. There are a lot of options out there. Ours is similar to this one.

Sound Machine
I love the Hatch Sound Machine! It connects to your phone where you can set up a lot of things- certain sounds and colors at certain times, etc. It is very useful to have a sound machine & this one is wonderful! They also have an adult version that is super slick!
Hakka
The Hakka is a small silicone pump you put on the boob that you are not nursing from that catches any & all leaking that might take place while nursing. You’d be surprised- you can get multiple ounces during just one feeding using this! Very useful if you’re breastfeeding your baby.
Matress Pad & Sheets
Get a 2-pack of matress pads for the crib and some sheets (I love the ones here from Mushie).
Monitor
Having a monitor is a great safety measure to have so you can see & hear your baby even when they’re in their nursery.

Fragrance-Free Wipes
Don’t get diapers with any scents in them! But, you’ll go through a ton of wipes, so this is a great thing to add to a registry!
All Sizes of Diapers
Babies tend to grow out of newborn & size 1 diapers really quickly, so register for other sizes too! You’ll eventually use them.
Car Seat Mirror
Having a mirror on the back seat of the seat the baby is in so the driver can see the baby easily is great! They’re also very inexpensive which is very nice.
High Chair
Even though your baby won’t be using a high chair for the first 6 months of their life, it’s a great thing to register for because once your baby starts using it, you’ll use it all the time. There are a lot of options! I actually don’t love the one we have, so I won’t link ours.
Breast Pump & Bottles
If you’re choosing to nurse, an electric pump is a good thing to have on hand. And if you’re choosing to nurse or do formula (or both), bottles are a great thing to have.
Diaper Bag
I personally love a backpack style diaper bag that is cute. You’ll have it with you basically all the time, so it’s nice when it doesn’t stand out. I love this one from Fawn Design. If you’re curious, what things are great to keep in a diaper bag, watch this video to see how I pack my bag!

Diaper Genie
I love the Diaper Genie to store diapers so your garbage cans don’t get super smelly!
Changing Pad
You do not need an entire changing table. I loved using a changing pad/basket on top of the dresser. One less big piece of furniture in the nursery.

Baby Thermometer
Having first aid things available for when your little one gets sick, like a thermometer, is super helpful.
Electric Nail File
I love our electric nail file! It makes cutting the kids’ nails super easy and pain-free for them.
Bathtub
I actually don’t have the one I linked, but I wish I did! Ours is just a seat and the one I linked transforms with the baby and looks way more comfortable than the one we have.
Activity Play Mat
A play mat is a great place for the baby to lay and have things to look at, grab, chew on, etc. These can range big time in price, but honestly, the idea for all of them is the same. It just depends how aesthetic you care for yours to be LOL.

Double Zipper Pjs
Your baby will go through so many footie pajamas. My favorites are ones with a double zipper so you can zip from the bottom and not need to undress the baby as much, especially during those middle of the night changes.
Sleep Sacks
We personally moved our kids to sleep sacks super early since they didn’t love being swaddled, so we use sleep sacks every night! The Halo ones are nice!
Nursing Bra & Pads
If you plan to nurse, many nursing bras and reusable pads are necessary!
