Last week, I was chatting with my husband and I told him I really want to get in better shape. Not to make any excuses, but I’ve been pregnant three times, birthed two babies, breastfed two babies, and am less than a year since my last birth took place. And all this took place back to back over a couple of years. My body has been used to nourish and grow two humans (which is incredible!!!!) and now is my time while not pregnant or nursing to focus on my health and nourishing my body for me.
My husband told me that whatever I wanted to do, he would do it with me. He looked at a calendar and said there were 22 weeks left in the year. So, we both made the goal to lose 20 pounds before the year is over. I am so excited and feel motivated. I want to be the best version of myself for my kids.
All day I take care of my two littles and sometimes sacrifice caring for my body like I should. But, I don’t want to do that anymore. So, here are the things I’m doing differently to try and lose 20 pounds in the next 22(ish) weeks of the year.
- Limit treats and sugary things to the weekend.
- Move my body everyday.
- Don’t eat out of boredom or just feeling “snacky.”
- Do a strength workout with a friend at the gym once a week.
- Fuel my body with foods that are good for me, even if it takes more time to prepare.
- Weigh myself every Friday to track my progress.
- Keep a healthy mindset and just do what is enjoyable!
My favorite thing this week to do has simply been going on walks. I did 1-2 walks everyday this week with my kids in the stroller, and we all loved it! I would walk and pray or read my Bible. I’d sometimes talk to my mom or husband on the phone. A couple days I even chatted with a friend over Marco Polo and one day walked with a friend and her kids. All while being outside getting Vitamin D and fresh air.
It takes intentionality, but I’m so excited to feel healthier for myself and my family. 🙂
