Anyone else ever said, “I believe in God and wholeheartedly trust His timing,” only to continue to doubt??

My hand is raised.

Sadly, I think that’s common. When we say with our mouths that we trust The Lord, it’s usually when life is going well & we’re not going through a difficult season where abundant trust is needed.

It’s so easy to trust when you don’t need any prayers answered at the moment. Life is good. Everyone has jobs. No one is sick. Yeah- I trust God, of course!! But is that even considered trust then…?

Recently, I finished watching the first three seasons of The Chosen. (If you haven’t watched this show, I HIGHLY recommend; it gave me such a greater insight and understanding of the Bible. I want to watch the new episodes soon!). But in the show, there were a few episodes where Simon was really struggling to trust that Jesus was good because him and his wife just had a miscarriage. He witnessed Jesus do countless miracles to “random people,” but here he was, a disciple whose prayer wasn’t answered. These scenes were touching, especially because we watched it right after we had a 2nd trimester miscarriage, so I could really relate to Simon’s anger and disappointment.

Season three ends with the scene of Jesus walking on the water during a storm to the boat with the fearful disciples in it and Simon ends up trusting the Lord through his unbelief and stepping out of the boat, on the water. He walked to Jesus and cried in His arms. It was a beautiful representation of Jesus working on our behalf, even when we don’t understand it. But, Jesus is always there, holding us deeply.

In Isaiah 41, Jesus tells us that He will strengthen us and we don’t need to fear.

I think we could all use this daily reminder.
