Prayer is powerful.
Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
And in Proverbs 18, we are told that there is the power of “life and death in the tongue.”
The Bible makes it clear to us the importance of prayer. So, why don’t we pray more often? We should not lose sight of the power behind words spoken, especially words in scripture.
I’d like to share with you 5 scriptures that would be wonderful to pray over your children.
Prayer for them to walk in the Spirit
Galatians 5:22
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”
Prayer for wisdom
Proverbs 9:10
“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”
Prayer for favor.
Luke 2:52
“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.”
Prayer for peace
Philippians 4:6
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Prayer for protection
Psalm 91:14
“I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name.”
My husband frequently tells our youth group students, “If something happens when you pray, something doesn’t when you don’t.” I’m not sure whose quote that is originally, but your prayers for your children are powerful! Let’s not forget that!
