All mamas out there know how crucial nap time is for both the babes and us as moms! As much as I love my kids, I need that time to do things around the house as well as have some time by myself where I am not needed by another human for a few hours. I am very thankful that my two kiddos nap at the same time from about 12:30pm – 3:30pm every day. It was not always like this but I am GRATEFUL for that time. So, I go hard with what I accomplish during while they sleep. Let me share my tentative daily nap schedule with you.
After I lay my kids down, the first thing I do is let my dog outside to go to the bathroom. With having two littles, it’s hard to let the dog out with both of them awake. They want to come out with me and since we don’t have a fenced in yard, it’s just difficult. So, I let my dog relieve her bowels (lol) at this time and it’s a nice breathe of fresh air for myself as well.
When I get back inside, I start with the daily priority things. Those include picking up all the toys & living room, vacuuming, doing dishes, and switching over the laundry I began that morning. Those tasks usually take me 45 minutes or so, but I want to start nap time with a clean and fresh slate of a home so I can enjoy it better. I will feel much more at peace if my house feels peaceful than if it’s cluttered and full of toys. Also, worth mentioning is the fact that I’m almost always listening/watching a Youtube video, podcast, or catching up on Marcos while I’m doing my duties. It’s a nice time to connect with friends and have some entertainment for myself while doing house stuff.
Once those things are done, I move on to some of the odd things I do each week, depending on the day. All of the things below, I will do one time a week typically, but I don’t do them all on the same day (obviously).
- wash bedding
- clean bathrooms
- mop
- deep clean the high chair
- organize a space
- clean the fridge
- rotate toys in the playroom
At this time, most days I will continue on laundry. I do one load each day during the work week. I try to wash, dry, and put away each load each day to make each day’s work more minimal than if I saved it all for one or two days.
I will also start dinner during nap time if it’s needed. Prepping anything I can while kids are napping helps immensely.
Before I do something fun of my choice, I will typically do any work I have to do for my part-time social media job for our church. This doesn’t take me super long, but typically two days a week I have a little bit I need to do for that.
Once those things are all accomplished, I will use remaining time (if any) to just chill. Lately, I’ve been reading a book. Sometimes I’ll chat with my mom on the phone or do other life-giving things.
That’s what my nap time looks like most days! What do you do while your kids nap?
